#XylitolAHiddenDangerToDogs

I share this, because it happened to us, and by some amazing miracle, we avoided serious harm!

So often we read warning stories because something horrible has happened. This is a warning story because we got lucky!

Xylitol! Have you heard of it? Did you know it is extremely toxic to dogs? Did you know that it’s now being put in more and more products, because it’s “Keto” or “Low Sugar” friendly?

#HeartMurmursInDogs

A year and a half ago, we found out Pebbles had a heart murmur.

It all started with a trip to Lake Tahoe. We went out for a hike in the mountains. It wasn’t a super long hike, and Pebbles did awesome. She never showed any signs of struggling or having a hard time.

#EatLikeThePBJPack

We frequently get compliments on not only how good we look, but also how spunky and full of energy we are…even at our senior ages! We believe a major factor in both those things is due to our diet. We make our own dog food using grass-fed & free-range meats along with organic vegetables.

#CBDForDogs

Do you take CBD? We do!! Daily!

Cannabidiol, or CBD oil, is derived from cannabis. It is a type of cannabinoid, which are the chemicals naturally found in marijuana plants.

Even though it comes from marijuana plants, CBD does not create a high effect. The high effect is caused by another cannabinoid, known as THC.

CBD and THC are two completely different compounds. As long as there is no THC present, there will be no “high”.

#TeethCare

Did you know that we have 42 teeth in our mouths?? Those teeth are made up of four different types, with different purposes…

Incisors are the small teeth in the front that are used to tear meat from a bone and for self-grooming.

Canines are the pointy teeth. These four teeth are used to puncture and hold on to something…especially helpful when playing tug-of-war.

Premolars are located behind the canine teeth and are used for shearing.

Molars are the flat, heavy-duty teeth found in the back of the mouth and are used for grinding and chewing.

Having pearly whites isn’t just fashionable, it’s a sign of good health, as well!

#TearStains

A question that we get frequently is “How do you not have tear stains?”

Guess What?!? We used to! But, not anymore! These two photos of Bruiser were 12 months apart.

We 100% believe it has to do with diet. For a while, we had horrible tear stains. We ate grain free kibble, drank filtered water, and thought we were doing everything right…but the stains around our eyes and mouths just wouldn’t go away.

#ChineseElements

What Element are you?

Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal or Water? I am very intrigued by Chinese Medicine and the way it looks at our energy and our health. I’ve frequently sought out different alternative therapies (acupuncture, cupping, gua sha, herbal medicine, etc.) for myself and the pups...with great success.

As a result, I’m constantly into learning new things. I recently learned that our pets can be linked to the Elements, which can help us with knowing how to communicate with them, what to watch out for in their health, even what to feed them…to make them the best versions of themselves!
